This is the SECOND column.
I couldn't really decide how I wanted the columns on this site. How do you like the three? The ideas I was kicking around were either this one, or maybe just taking off the third column (to the right of this). Which idea do you like better? Either way, I wanted to show you this one first because it's easier to take off a column than add one on.

Anyway, I was thinking about where to put your picture. Either on this one, or, if you decide to keep it, the mini-column to the right?

Why Now?

This summer the delegate body of AAUW will meet in St Louis and decide on far-reaching, historical changes to the governance and operations of our organization. It comes after years of study and well intended, yet limiting responses taken to reverse the longstanding issues plaguing our organization: aging and declining membership, shrinking resources, burned-out leadership, and fragmented programming that lacks consistency and focus. To be the relevant, vital 21st century organization we know we can be demands dramatic change now. I am running for this office because I do not want to wake up two years from now and find us revisiting the same old issues. I want a different future for AAUW.

Why Me?

AAUW is an organization of strong mission and strong values. Mission compelled me to join AAUW in the mid 1970’s and I have been an active member for every consecutive year since then.

I was drawn to AAUW because of its public policy and fight for equal rights. Through three decades of my participation and leadership at every level of AAUW, the world has changed but AAUW’s mission remains strong and relevant. Advocacy, Education and Research define AAUW’s values and my own. They boldly state who we are and what we stand for.

The changes proposed for AAUW in St Louis demand certain expectations from its leaders beginning with its board of directors and president. It requires leaders who create and sustain a high-trust culture of openness, empowerment, and flexibility. It requires purpose-driven leaders who can mobilize all members around a shared vision and common goals. It requires leaders who welcome, encourage, motivate and mentor emerging leaders, who may look and act differently, to build organizational capacity and ensure a viable future for AAUW. And because success does not happen by accident, it requires leaders who act intentionally and are accountable. Our next leaders must deliver on that commitment and I am ready to lead the way!

Why Courageous Leadership Matters –

(Championing ideas and actions to bring out AAUW’s greatness)

This is where we are right now. We now have a choice in AAUW. We can accept the status quo or come together and become an organization known for embracing change, revitalizing our mission and demonstrating our value as a 21st century organization. This election is about our future.

I am uniquely qualified to lead AAUW’s Board of Directors from strategic process and plan to strategic implementation and renewal. As part of the Unity Slate at the convention in Washington, my choice was clear and the organization remained in tact. I was part of the core team for the 2005/06 Strategic Process “Roadmap” and served on the joint boards Strategic Process PMMD Team. I have been a board member, Program Vice-President for the Foundation and a member of the Executive Team. I am passionately committed to our mission and value promise, and strongly support the changes outlined by our strategic initiatives and framed by the new bylaws.

To that end, I support and will work to actualize an AAUW that will:
